There are some specialized communications programs of which Savant is one that work especially well with the Mac on packet. If you are savy enough to get on the "networking" version of packet... you might want to try NET/Mac. There are a number of us that have converted soley to that mode over the ax.25 PBBS side! To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu Greetings from Whitehorse!.. I've been working with the DOC on a project to use digital radio in disaster situations to connect with the Internet via RF links to router stations with satellite dishes scattered around the territory. We've demonstrated the effectiveness of this system to "the powers that be", although they raised the question of security of the data stream between the remote site (the on-scene packet station), and the dish. This link would be made on pre-determined "commercial" frequencies, so the question arose as to what encryption schemes there were to bolster security of information passing over the air... Does any such scheme currently exist, and if so, where would one find it and how good is it?.. Any information would be of great assistance... Thanks in advance.. Most things don't care, but a lot of terminals actually follow some of those data signals that are often ignored on PCs, etc... you'll prolly need to change DSR, maybe DTR, CTS and RTS, and if your TNC is capable maybe turn on XON/XOFF. I don't know how... I'd love to get into packet but haven't found a TNC, this advice is all from using modems and getting them to work, so don't ask for specific commands or anything... 8-) Good luck. ------------------------------ Date: 17 Apr 1994 01:23:52 GMT From: ihnp4.ucsd.edu!swrinde!emory!news-feed-2.peachnet.edu!insosf1.infonet.net!usenet@network.ucsd.edu To: ham-digital@ucsd.edu References <2oh1qh$q5n@hp-col.col.hp.com>,<2okn8t$c74@hpbab.mentorg.com>, <2om9kt$qtl@insosf1.infonet.net>,<2omhmj$728@hp-col.col.hp.com>, <2omni1$l5@insosf1.infonet.net>,<2omq8r$cah@hp-col.col.hp.com> Reply-To : billh@ins.infonet.net Subject : Re: NTS traffic on packet In article <2omq8r$cah@hp-col.col.hp.com>, jms@col.hp.com (Mike Stansberry) writes: >Bill Hays (billh@ins.infonet.net) wrote: > > >: It would be good to "publish" the Text of the ARRL numbered radiograms >: together with the exp[lanation of its use on the PBBS systems.
